In the race to get coal from the pit to the port, an odd railway was built from The valleys to Newport docks. This line had so many quirks, some of which are hard to believe. Building it without actually having any locomotives, relying on other companies to run your trains, having railway stations with no platforms, and buying coaches from the most bizarre place.
