About Extra-Orchidnary: Discover Orchids and Wildflowers at Newport Wetlands

Join us at Newport Wetlands for an extra-orchidnary guided walk in search of the reserve's beautiful orchids and summer wildflowers. We'll be on the lookout for five species of orchid, alongside a colourful array of other plants that thrive across the wetlands.

As we explore, you'll learn how to identify different orchids and wildflowers, discover the fascinating habitats they depend on, and uncover some surprising botanical stories. Ever wondered what dittander tastes like? Why bird's-foot trefoil got its name? What ribbed melilot smells of? Or whether grass vetchling is more pea than grass? We'll reveal the answers as we go.

Whether you're a seasoned botanist or simply curious about the natural world, this relaxed and friendly walk is a chance to slow down, look closely, and experience Newport Wetlands in full bloom. Comfortable footwear recommended. Bring your curiosity!
