About Maindee Festival
The Maindee Festival Association is excited to announce this year’s Maindee Festival, set to take place on Saturday, July 6th, at Maindee Primary School in Newport from 1pm til 5.30pm, with the parade at 12:15pm.
Expect an eclectic mix of performances from local musical and spoken word talents, art installations, and educational exhibits.
Our music tent has a full programme as always, supported by Newport City Radio.
Our Youth stage will be an open mic style brought together by Community Youth Project from Community House. Expect rapping, hip hop, traditional Roma dancing from the Romany Art Company with a chance to join in with a karaoke session.
In our spoken word tent, we have an amazing line up in our Spoken Word tent this year. International storyteller Dick Berry will be spinning his yarns throughout the afternoon for young and old alike, and in between we will hear from poets, writers and spoken word artists from Newport and beyond! Look out for special guests. Join in our Open Mic sessions!
The festival will feature a “Tent of Intent” powered by Newport Circular Economy Network. Our friends the local circular economy highlighting the best practices and promoting sustainability and innovative reuse. Help us to imagine a world where we grow our own food, cherish nature and keep our stuff repaired and going for as long as possible! Join us for a range of activities, you can bring your bike for free repair and maintenance, you can bring some clothes to exchange at a clothes swap. Come along to learn about re-use and zero-waste and take away some skills and ideas that you can keep forever!
