About Bridge to the Sea - Newport Seafarers Walking Tour

Fire-up your step counters and kick-off the new year with a wonderful winter's walk! Join us to discover and celebrate Newport's Nautical heroes and heroines with Antarctic stowaways, heroic rescuers, Hollywood liberties, pioneering women and even rogue torpedoes - uncover their stories!

In the company of local historian and author Andrew Hemmings, you’ll join the Newport Transporter Team on our popular journey exploring Newport around the Bridge, uncovering the fascinating tales of 13 key people and intriguing incidents...

Following in the footsteps of a century of countless sailors, we’ll be commencing our voyage of discovery at the Mission to Seafarers in Newport Docks, where you can enjoy a screening of ‘Newport and the Sea 1914-1918’ before venturing out on this 5 mile circular walk, visiting six locations.

There will also be an opportunity to purchase copies of Andrew's book: 'Secret Newport' - an ideal gift.

This is a free event but donations are always appreciated for our Bridge project!

We suggest parking at or around Mill Parade car park.
