About Newport Rising Festival 2026
Newport Rising Festival returns in November 2026 to mark the anniversary of the 1839 Chartist Rising and celebrate Newport’s radical history and its continuing legacy.
The festival brings together talks, walks, performances, exhibitions and family activities, alongside the Radical Book Fair, Chartist Convention, annual Torchlit March and commemorative events across the city. It is a weekend of history, culture and community, exploring the struggle for democracy and the stories that continue to shape Newport today.
