The Riverfront are proud to be a part of the Rip It Up nationwide film season, celebrating the changing face of youth rebellion, culture and expression on screen across the UK. Our focus is on what it means to be young in Newport, highlighting stories that reflect the city's youth culture and music scene. Alongside the screenings, music videos from local bands will amplify the voices of Newport creatives. We'll be showing Ish (15) with a pre-screening of Ogun's music video, 'Freestyle'.

Ish (15) Film Description:

Ish follows 12-year-old best friends ‘Ish’ and Maram, who wrestle to hold on to their friendship in the wake of a police stop and search. As the ripples take hold, the boys try to make sense of the men they are becoming – and how ‘letting go’ can be the hardest part of growing up.

Ogun Music Video:

Since turning 24, Ogun has marked each birthday with a freestyle, using music as a form of reflection and self-expression. 28 Freestyle is his most personal yet, written after a challenging year marked by bereavement, the loss of close friendships, and a lingering sense of sadness. Raw and honest, the track showcases Ogun's signature lyricism, intricate rhyme schemes, and vivid storytelling, capturing a powerful snapshot of where he was at 28.
