About FINDING HOME ELSEWHERE: Workshops at Newport Museum and Art Gallery

Each one of us has our own sense of identity. The traditions we celebrate, the communities we’re part of, our language, home and upbringing; anything can shape who we are and how we identify. We are also drawn to living sociably, to community, to the people around us. We’re also all individuals – we all have different opinions, different ideas and different experiences. So, what’s the difference between our personal and collective sense of identity? And how can we celebrate our differences?

Finding Home Elsewhere is a series of three workshops in which we will explore these complex and urgent questions through art and creative nonfiction. We will be looking at works from the national collection held by Amgueddfa Cymru and the collection at Newport Museum and Art Gallery and using a range of place writing about Wales and elsewhere to inspire our own creative responses.

Participants can attend one or two or all three sessions. Each can be booked separately.

Session One – Portraits – Wednesday 6th March, 10.30am – 12 noon

Session Two – Places – Wednesday 13th March, 10.30am – 12 noon

Session Three – Home – Wednesday 20th March, 10.30am – 12 noon
