Start your day with one of nature's most breath taking spectacles! Before dawn breaks, we'll head out onto the reserve to witness tens of thousands of starlings taking off all at once. Using the reedbed as their runway, the starlings head out to feed for the day. Once the sky settles, we'll continue our walk around the reserve, keeping our eyes and ears open for early-rising wildlife that call Newport Wetlands home.
What do I need to bring?
Warm Layers - It will be very cold!
Flask of warm drink and snack
Torch - The walk will begin in the dark
Binoculars/Scope/Camera - We do have binoculars if you do not have your own
Waterproof - Just in case
Accessibility All paths at Newport are fully accessible although the small section to view the starlings can get wet and muddy. We have mobility equipment free to hire including electric scooters and manual wheelchairs. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Please bring either printed or electronic proof of your ticket. If you booked as an RSPB member, that member needs to bring their membership card with them.
Can I bring my dog? No dogs, except assistance dogs please.
