About Binocular and Telescope weekend at RSPB Newport Wetlands

Thinking of buying a pair of binoculars or a telescope?

Visit us this weekend to speak with our experts, who can show you how to use each pair and answer all your questions. We'll have the whole range set up in the Lakeside Room, so you can try as many pairs as your like, and take your time getting used to looking through them.

Before shopping for binoculars, it's worth considering the following three things:

1. How much are you interested in spending? A good pair of binoculars can cost as little as £70, however they can also be as expensive as £3,000, so it's a good starting point to have a budget in mind.

2. What will you be using your binoculars for? Binoculars come in all shapes and sizes, for example, some are heavier than others due to their higher magnification, some are built especially for low light conditions, and some are designed to fit snuggly in your suitcase. The more you can tell us about how you'll be using your binoculars, the better the recommendations we can give you!

3. Are they comfortable? Probably the most important question you'll need to ask yourself - uncomfortable binoculars can ruin your birding experience! This is something you can only know when you've got the pair in your hands, so it's essential to try before you buy. All of our binoculars are designed to be used with or without glasses, while our branded range of Swarovski have some additional comfort features that you won't find else where.

If you have any questions, or if you can't attend at the weekend and would like to arrange some dedicated time with one of our expert team, please call us on 01633 636363, or email newport-wetlands@rspb.org.uk, and we will be happy to help.
