About Writing for Wellbeing

Create magic on the page: writing stories and poems

An introduction to creative writing, these free workshops at The Riverfront, supported by Warm Hubs (made possible by GAVO, Newport City Council and UK government) are fun, lively and inclusive.

You’ll get the chance each week to shape your words on the page and make them sing. We look at examples of recently published stories and poems, and the writing exercises are designed to stimulate ideas and get you thinking in new directions.

How do we surprise the reader, without confusing them? How do we make a connection with ‘the reader’ without knowing who that is? If you want to write creatively but aren’t sure how to go about it, this course is for you.

Led by award-winning writer Mark Blayney, the two-hour workshops run on Wednesdays at either 11am or 2pm, for nine dates from January 29th to April 9th (see dates below) Drop-in, feel welcome, enjoy some tea & coffee, and best of all it’s free!
