About Ill Literate (The Sribes) / Codewalkers
Born and raised in Bristol, rapper/producer Ill Literate has performed across Europe as one of half of multi-award-winning hip hop act The Scribes (Stimulus Management). Known for critically acclaimed live performances full of energy, beatboxing, crowd participation and off the cuff freestyling, the group have become festival favourites throughout the UK, regularly gracing the stage at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, Isle Of Wight, Latitude, Wilderness, Boomtown Fair, Urban In Ibiza and many more.
As a solo artist, Ill Literate became the first UK act to sign with US label Kamikazi Airlines, co-owned by Dizzy Dustin of legendary hip hop act Ugly Duckling, releasing ""The Scribes Present Ill Literature"" LP worldwide to critical acclaim.
This success led to a sponsorship deal with ethical clothing company THTC alongside huge names like Ed Sheeran and Foreign Beggars, before being followed up with a second solo release, the apocalyptic hip hop era “Mr Teatime & The End Of The World” on Reel Me Records.
Introducing alter-ego “Mr Teatime”, the genre-defying EP formed one continuous narrative across 7 tracks, telling the tale of mankind’s sole survivor struggling to continue in a world destroyed by robots gone haywire.
During the 2021 Covid lockdowns Ill Literate joined forces with The Get Down Records and Icelandic producer J-Boom for the limited 7” clear vinyl “Stir Crazy/Haunted House Party”, featuring the return of “Mr Teatime” and described by FaultlineSocial.com as “England’s finest modern hip hop”.
