About Hammered Botanical Tote Bag workshop

Join me for a beautiful evening of leaf and flower printing using the hammer method! What an incredible way to honour and showcase the beauty of natural dyes than printing them on to an organic, natural fabric for everyone to admire!

Leaf/flower printing was developed in the Middle Ages to help those gathering medicinal plants, and evolved into a serious scientific process used to reproduce plants and build up collections of flora and fauna.

During this workshop you will have a pre mordanted, organic cotton tote bag, to create your own design on using leaves, flowers and other foliage. All botanical materials will be provided, but feel free to bring anything from the garden or anything you wish to imprint! Also feel free to bring any natural fabrics you wish to print on.

The method is simple. Arrange your design, and then get hammering. Your bag will then need to be soaked in a vinegar solution at home to secure the natural dyes.

"Art is the flower. Life the green leaf."

Hope to see you there 🍃
