About Gŵyl Newydd
Gŵyl Newydd is Newport’s Welsh-language arts and cultural festival. This year, the 6th annual festival takes place at the Riverfront Theatre, Newport on Saturday 28 September from 11am to 5pm.
This is a whole family festival providing an opportunity to hear and use Welsh in a fun environment while enjoying music, crafts, stalls, workshops and celebrate our Welshness in the city. Last year, the event was attended by over 500 people.
This year, for the second time in the festival’s history, all schools in the city have been invited to perform at the event. Welsh and English medium schools from across Newport and neighbouring areas will perform in Welsh on the main stage showcasing their Welsh language talents and skills.
