About Exhibition: Water Margins: Between River and Reen

An exhibition by textile artists Level V, exploring the magical and everchanging landscape of the Gwent Levels.

The Gwent levels are a unique natural habitat, home to a variety of wildlife and a wealth of history. Situated on the Severn Estuary, which has the second highest tidal range in the world, it is possible for a visitor to feel the powerful and magical atmosphere of the place.

This is what drew Level V to explore the Levels through art and textiles. The group have been inspired by a wealth of material, finding a land laced with waterways known as ‘reens’ created by humans to bring drainage to the community.
