About Bat walk at RSPB Newport Wetlands - For Families
As night falls join us on a stroll through the reserve as these fabulous creatures of the night make their appearance. We will be joined by Peter Wilton-Jones on the night where he will start with an introduction into the world of bats, before heading out, bat detectors in hand we will head out to see what we can find.
This event is for families, we have another event for adults only on the 11th October. The event and will last approximately 2 hours. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
What else is there to do at Newport Wetlands? Our shop is open 10am-4:30pm and the café is open 10am-4pm. You can hire binoculars from our shop and receive the price off a brand-new pair if you buy the same day. We have a car park that is free for RSPB members and £4 per car for non-members for the day.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Please bring either printed or electronic proof of your ticket. If you booked as an RSPB member, that member needs to bring their membership card with them.
What do I need to bring? Please bring a torch, a headtorch with a red light is best so as not disturb the wildlife. Dress appropriately for the weather and condition, including sturdy footwear. Please expect some standing about so dress in warm layers as it can be very cold out on the reserve. Wet weather gear should be brought just in case. You may wish to bring a drink and/or snack.
Can I bring my dog? No dogs, except assistance dogs please.

What's the refund policy? If unforeseen circumstances cause RSPB Newport Wetlands to cancel an event, all ticket holders will be informed, and a full refund will be issued.
