About Annual Hiroshima Commemoration Event
This is an annual event originally organised by the local (now disbanded) branch of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.
Local politicians and one or two others from Newport Interfaith Group and elsewhere often choose to say a few words before strewing flowers onto the Lake.
The ceremony is led by Shirley Newnham, former secretary of WILPF.
